 A RECORD BREAKING START TO THE NEW YEAR

Congratulations to all our students who achieved Futures' best ever GCSE results in the summer.  43% of Year 11 students achieved 5 A*-C grades including both English and Maths.  This is up by 12% on the previous year and we are all delighted with this achievement.  This is an important step forward as we continue to transform and improve education for young people in Southend.

Welcome to the Futures Community College web site.  This is an exciting time for Futures as we make sure that we do our best each day to provide the environment in which young people can develop their talents, take pride in their successes and feel valued and supported as members of our college community. 

Futures Community College has been an improving school for some time, and it is now ready to truly take off.  In 2010 Ofsted judged many elements of our college to be "good" in our 2010 inspection, including our curriculum and many elements of our care for students. Since then we have made many furtehr improvements and in 2011 our students achieved their best ever GCSE results.   57% of students achieved 5 A* to C grades and 43% of students achieving 5 A*-C grades including both English and Maths.  We are committed to continual improvement and development so that Futures provides the best possible education, care and support for young people. Our Year 7 students enjoy their own facilities in the Year 7 block, which eases the transition from primary to secondary school.  We support our students and encourage them to progress as quickly as they are able, planning teaching and learning around the individual needs of each one.  By the time students are in year 9, they will start working towards their GCSEs and other qualifications; a full year before some other schools and it is one reason why our students are increasingly successful in their exams.

Futures Community College is creating an amazing 21^st century learning environment, boosted by our new building offering your child the facilities that you would usually only find in the country's best universities and top work places.  Alongside all the traditional subjects like English, Maths and Science, some of our students from Year 9 onwards choose to begin learning skills in areas like engineering, construction, hairdressing and beauty therapy.  We will make sure that there is a learning pathway that matches the needs and interests of each individual and which prepares them for their future, either in higher education or in their chosen career.
